Let’s Celebrate !

It’s amazing how fast time flies when there’s so many things going on in life.  With the house build and my career, everything else has been on hold.  I’m counting the days when I’m able be back at full speed with my fully build and stocked studio working on my art.

Since I cannot work on my origami and designs, I’ve been starved for a creative outlet.  I didn’t realize it until now but Instagram has filled the void.  I’ve received an iPhone 4S for my birthday a couple months back.  With such a jump of camera quality, I’ve been taking pictures of everything and working with them with photo editing software for fun and uploading them.  Now fans are asking for more!  Of course I have the inherit entrepreneurial spirit, I would like to share my photos as well, which lead me to InstacanvasLet's Celebrate

This photo is actually an anniversary card I received congratulating me on my years of employment.   It’s a smile with a “Let’s Celebrate” caption.   After applying the swirl effect, everyone loves it!

This is available to purchase on Instacanvas as well as on Foap.

Don’t Forget the Silent Admirers

untitledToday on my Instagram feed, one of the people I follow wrote how upset she was that her followers don’t interact with her when she visits and comments.    If you don’t like her work, she asked to ‘unfollow’

As an artist, I do appreciate where she is coming from.  She wants to share her art with the world and spread the love to fellow artists and wants the same love in return.  I can’t help to feel offended.  I’m a silent admirer, she’s a great artist.  I do ‘like’ her work but I’m not a commenter.   I have lots of things going on right now but that doesn’t mean I don’t like the work of those who I follow.  Not everyone can afford the time to make a detailed comment back.  I agree a simple thank you is appreciated but on a media like Instagram it’s tough to have that as an expectation.

Don’t forget the silent admirers.

PS – oh, I’ve decided to keep follower this Instagramer, regardless of how she feels, I like her work.    If she feels offended if I don’t say anything, she can block me

How Much Did You Pay For the Awesome Dress that Made You Look Better Then Me?

1243104183523841540promdress2_svg_medI went to a great wedding  and  wore this elegant evening gown that made me feel like a million dollars.  I purchased it at a discount store but it was as if it was tailor made to me.  I receive so many complements.  For weeks, I’ve been feeling a little down with the reality of moving, closing up shop and stress of my day job so this a wonderful change.  The best part, the only person who looked better than me was the bride.   Since it was a wedding, I knew my dress wouldn’t outshine hers.  Actually, I didn’t think my dress was that great, until I arrived.

Then one person asked

How much was it?

My confidence literally reduced like a tire that ran over a nail.  I didn’t know how to answer without causing some sort of scene or sounding rude myself so I just told her.   She KNEW it purchased it at a discount store.  Fortunately only person in ear shot was a guy friend who really doesn’t care.  This is a rant of course, but I supposed that really is bothering me is the person asking the question had no malicious intent.  She’s actually clueless on this level of etiquette.  At least that’s what I tell myself so I can move on from the incident.

Anyways, I’m not the queen of etiquette by far, however it made me think about myself.  When it comes to my professional life, I’m consider pretty good at defusing or saying the right thing.  In social situations, I’m pretty inexperienced.  I tend to say what I think or just not say anything at all, nothing in-between when you have to say something and must say it nice!

How would you have handled this awkward situation?
